Key West and the Vandenberg:   January 2017, but you can talk me into a trip sooner!  Not looking forward to the cold days of Southeastern Michigan?  How about the fun of Key West and combined with the excitement of diving!  The beautiful sunshine of the Florida Keys, on the Southernmost point in the continental United States AND three days of diving the USNS Vandenberg.  This is one of the most wonderful shipwrecks you will ever dive, located in one of the most fun places you’ve ever been! The wreck is a former troop carrier, serving it’s later life as a missile-tracking ship.  It is 524' in length and sits in almost 150' of water.  The main deck is at about 80–90', well within recreational diving limits.

Don’t come unless you are prepared for fun, culminating our dive days with a night on Duval Street after seeing the sunset from Mallory Square on Key West!  The streets are filled with music and the nights filled with entertainment. The waters will be comfortable and and diving terrific.

If you are not a diver, no worries… come snorkel and be part of the fun! If you are looking to expand your diving, feel free to inquire about continuing education available on the trip: diving specialties like Nitrox, Wreck, and Deep Diving, or even Advanced Open Water.  For new divers Key West is a great place to get certified.  Afternoon dives on the shallow reefs provide a perfect location for your Open Water checkout dives in the sunshine of the Florida Keys.

We will be diving with Captain’s Corners aboard the “Sea Eagle,” the same boat used by James Bond in the movie License to Kill.  The Sea Eagle is a 60' 37-ton all aluminum dive vessel.  The custom configuration is comfortable while topside and perfect for diving with two dive ladders, state-of-the-art electronics, and all the creature comforts divers and snorkelers prefer.  Mark has been diving with Captain’s Corners for years and they always take great care of us.

Advanced Open Water Diver is required for diving on the Vandenberg. However, divers of all levels are welcome for other reef dives and you can even complete your open water or advanced specialty checkouts on the trip.
